Описание: Серия лекций по одной из интереснейших (и, что немаловажно, доступнейших) областей математики - теории игр. Теория игр применима в большом количестве разных ситуаций, а учёные, занимавшиеся ей, получили не одну Нобелевскую Премию по экономике (как известно, Нобелевских Премий по математике нету, потому что в своё время неизвестный математик соблазнил жену Нобеля. По крайней мере, так рассказывают. Я не проверял). Естественно, речь идёт не об играх типа футбола (хотя и про футбол из этих лекций вы кое-что узнаете). И даже не об играх типа покера (хотя про покер вы узнаете немного больше). Игра - это... Впрочем, какой смысл пересказывать вам содержание лекций, если люди старались и снимали их на видео? Тем более, что профессор Стивенс - отличный рассказчик, примеры подобраны увлекательные, и вообще - курс сделан на высшем уровне. И не только на высшем, но и, как я уже говорил, на очень доступном. "Классической" математики мало, а ту, что есть, можно и пропускать мимо ушей - это не мешает понимать суть. В общем, рекомендую.
В этой раздаче - сжатая версия для смартфонов и т.п. Смотреть можно - проверено. Но если у вас есть возможность пользоваться нормальным экраном - здесь лежит качественная версия. Кстати. Здесь этот же курс есть в виде аудио. Но я бы советовал смотреть видео, если это хоть как-то возможно. Иначе крайне сложно уследить за примерами. Да и на профессора Стивенса смотреть забавно.

* Prisoner's Dilemma, a famous situation and perhaps the most important in all of game theory. This game involves two prisoners being separately interrogated for their common crime. Each must decide whether to confess or remain silent, knowing his partner has the same choice.
If neither confesses, they each get a one-year sentence. If both confess, each gets three years. And if only one confesses, he goes free, but sends his partner away for five years.
This perplexing game, in which logic points to a strategy for each prisoner that is clearly best, yet nevertheless provides a worse outcome, surfaces repeatedly in the course, as it does in real life.
But as these lectures make clear, that isn't unusual. For the ideas that underlie game theory are everywhere, their practical applications appearing repeatedly:
